Option 1 — From Palma Centre & Plaça d’Espanya

Best if you’re staying near Plaça d’Espanya, the Intermodal Station, or along Avinguda d’Alemanya.

  • On foot (most popular): From Plaça d’Espanya, follow Carrer de Sant Miquel or Carrer de la Sindicat into the Old Town. Continue towards Plaça Major, then follow signs downhill to Catedral / La Seu. You’ll gradually emerge onto Plaça de la Seu with the cathedral right in front of you.

  • By taxi: Ask the driver for Catedral de Palma or Plaça de la Seu. Taxis can usually drop you very close to the main entrance, though some streets are restricted within the historic center.

From Playa de Palma & Beach Areas

From popular beach zones like Playa de Palma / Arenal, take an EMT bus towards the city center. Many routes end near or pass by Plaça d’Espanya or the seafront, from where you can walk or connect to another bus that stops by Parc de la Mar.

Hop-on Hop-off Sightseeing Bus

Palma’s hop-on hop-off bus has a dedicated stop at or very close to the cathedral / Parc de la Mar area. It’s a convenient option if you’re sightseeing around the city and want to get off directly by La Seu.

  • Old Town Route: Start at Plaça Major and dive into the narrow streets of the historic center. Follow signs for Catedral / La Seu or head downhill towards the sea—you’ll eventually emerge onto small plazas that open up to the cathedral square.
  • Seafront Route: Walk along the Passeig Marítim or Parc de la Mar promenade, with the sea on one side and the cathedral above. Then take the ramps and steps up from the lake area to the main entrance.
  • Evening Approach: Around sunset, the cathedral is beautifully lit and reflected in the Parc de la Mar lake. It’s an ideal time for photos as you walk up from the seafront.

Many cruise lines include shuttle buses or shore excursions that drop you near the Old Town, often by Parc de la Mar or Plaça de la Reina. From there, it’s a short walk uphill to the cathedral.

By Local Bus

On Foot (Longer Walk)

Palma has cycle lanes along parts of the seafront. You can park bikes or e-scooters near Parc de la Mar, then walk up to the cathedral—riding is restricted in many Old Town streets and around the monument itself.

Accessibility

There are ramped routes from the Parc de la Mar area up towards the cathedral, but slopes can be fairly steep. If you have mobility needs, aim to be dropped as close as possible to Plaça de la Seu and allow extra time.
